چکیده

Background: In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to evaluate auxological measurements and detailed body proportions of recombinant human growth hormone (GH)-treated patients with Turner syndrome (TS) compare them a group healthy females. Materials methods: We evaluated 42 TS who received GH treatment 20 controls. Anthropometric were taken target height, mass index (BMI), arm span-height difference, extremity-to-trunk ratio, Manouvrier's skelic calculated. Results: The median (min-max) age the at time evaluation was 13.6 (4.3-20.7) years, control 12.9 (3.8-23.7) years. Height, sitting span significantly lower than those group. Sitting height/height ratio (SHR) in normal ranges both groups BMI higher when compared According index, had shorter legs (p = 0.001). extremity-trunk decreased controls < There no significant difference between karyotype terms these indexes. Conclusion: short stature, increased waist circumference, head ratio. height leg length short; however, SHR standard deviation score (SDS) range. Despite being treated GH, disproportionate stature. disproportion similar short-stature homeobox-containing gene (SHOX) deficiency, which is considered be SHOX haploinsufficiency etiopathogenesis

Body proportions during long-term growth hormone treatment in girls with Turner syndrome participating in a randomized dose-response trial.

To assess body proportions in girls with Turner syndrome (TS) during long term GH treatment, height, sitting height (SH), hand (Hand) and foot (Foot) lengths, and biacromial (Biac) and biiliacal (Biil) diameters were measured in 68 girls with TS participating in a GH dose-response trial. These previously untreated girls with TS, aged 2-11 yr, were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 GH dosage groups: g...

Growth Hormone in Turner Syndrome

We studied the adult height (AH) outcome, and factors likely to influence it, in Turner Syndrome (TS) girls treated with growth hormone (GH). A total of 25 TS girls treated with GH were compared with 10 TS girls not treated with GH. The percentage of girls who achieved normal third percentile was determined. Projected AH (PAH) was calculated according to height standard deviation score (HSDS) a...

Growth hormone therapy in patients with Turner syndrome.

This article summarizes the published data on final height after growth-promoting therapy in Turner syndrome. Using growth hormone (GH) doses ranging between 0.5 and 1.2 IU/kg/week, final height after therapy is improved by 1.5-9.3 cm [final height after therapy vs. projected adult height (PAH)] within various studies. There is no obvious GH dose-response relationship, but a better estimated be...

Recombinant human growth hormone in the treatment of Turner syndrome

Turner syndrome (TS) is a common chromosomal disorder in women that is associated with the absence of one of the X chromosomes. Severe short stature and a lack of pubertal development characterize TS girls, causing psychosocial problems and reduced bone mass. The growth impairment in TS seems to be due to multiple factors including an abnormal growth hormone (GH) - insulin-like growth factor (I...

Adult height in Turkish patients with Turner syndrome without growth hormone treatment.

Spontaneous adult height (AH) in Turner syndrome (TS) varies among populations. Population-specific AH data is essential to assess the efficacy of growth-promoting therapies in TS. A multicenter study was performed to establish AH of nongrowth hormone (GH)-treated Turkish patients with TS. One hundred ten patients with TS (diagnosed by karyotype) who reached AH (no growth in the previous year, ...
